VANCOUVER, B.C.–Tecumseh Elementary School in East Vancouver is the proud owner of a brand new playground thanks to their own fundraising efforts and the help of the local PriceSmart Foods and the Overwaitea Food Group (OFG).
This playground installation project has been in the works for the past 7 years and thanks to a chance conversation at one of OFG’s 100th Birthday celebrations, their dream for a new place for the kids to play has finally come true.
Through a conversation with a teacher from Tecumseh Elementary, the team at OFG learned of their ongoing fundraising efforts to build a new playground. OFG, keen to support their friends in their local community, was quick to step in and offer the labour and expertise of over 30 volunteers to make this dream become a reality.
Thanks to the hard work of the OFG volunteers along with volunteers from the school, the playground was successfully installed on Thursday, June 4.
“It was such a fun day – we love having the opportunity to really get down to the grassroots level of helping out our friends in the communities we serve,” said Darrell Jones, President, Overwaitea Food Group. “We hope all the kids at this school have as much fun playing on their new playground as we did helping out to build it!”
