There is great value in being a member of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG). From keeping members informed on policy issues from credit card fees to beer and wine, to industry-wide issues, like the push for a Code of Conduct, CFIG is always working with our members and for our members.
Take the recent CBC Marketplace investigation (Best Before: How Supermarkets Sell you Old Food) on labelling that aired nationally.
We advised our members about the heightened focus on the part of regulatory bodies in the weeks ahead.
Same goes for the beer and wine issue in Ontario and B.C., wherein CFIG pushed to ensure there was a level playing field for independents across the country.
Read this recent column that was in the November 2015 issue of Canadian Grocer on the beer issue in Ontario.
As well, the landmark 2015 Economic Study on the impact of the independents in Canada, as well as the Inaugural FMS-CFIG Financial Benchmarking Survey were also new initiatives launched this year to showcase the integral role independent grocers play regionally and nationally.
Going forward, we here at CFIG will be advocating tirelessly for the issues that affect our members coast-to-coast.
We thank you for your continued engagement, and participation at CFIG.
Please let membership (info@cfig.ca) know of any of your staff in various departments who should be receiving important updates from CFIG concerning food safety, policy, advocacy, industry issues and the like.
