GS1 Canada is the proud sponsor of the new Innovator’s Award, which honours companies who have implemented an innovative solution, service or strategy in their business. Through this award, we will celebrate innovation – regardless of size of spend, type or reach. We recognize innovation in all its forms, whether implemented by a large company or a small one.
GS1 Canada believes that innovation strengthens the economic future for the Canadian grocery industry and benefits the sector, as a whole.
The Innovator’s Award will be presented to a CFIG member that best demonstrates the principle of innovation through their actions and business activities. Applicants will be judged on how they have brought innovation to their business.

Applicants must describe in detail how they have been an innovator in their business. In addition to completing an application form, applicants are encouraged to be creative and provide supplementary content, which may include digital documents, video files or additional reports or documents.

Short-listed candidates will be contacted via telephone by September 1, 2016 and may be asked follow-up questions regarding their application.
The winner will be revealed on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 during CFIG’s Independent Grocer of the Year Awards Dinner. Information coming soon!
This dinner is the final event of the Grocery Innovations Canada Conference and Exhibition, which is the premier grocery and specialty food show of the year. This event takes place at the Toronto Congress Centre with over 65,000-sq.ft. dedicated to the specialty food categories that are in high demand, including health and wellness, gourmet/artisanal, organic and local foods.
