Notice to all CFIG members July 5th, 2017
From: Peter Cavin, Chairman of the CFIG nominating committee
Subject: Board openings
This year’s annual general meeting will be held on October 22nd, 2017. Currently there is one vacancy for a board member who would represent Western Canada. As of October 22nd, we will also have one board position open. This seat is an “at Large seat” which means that it can be filled by a member in good standing from anywhere in Canada.
This will create two vacancies on board of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG). To ensure that the process is open and transparent, the nominating committee, supported by the board, feel that it was important that all members in good standing be made aware of the process for nomination to the board. A member in good standing is one who has agreed to comply with the by-laws of the association and who’s application for membership has been approved by the board and has paid the annual dues. Board appointments are for two years with the possibility for two renewals. The maximum term for a board member, unless they are appointed to the executive committee is six years.
If you are interested in serving the association as a board member please complete the information outlined below and return it either by mail, email or fax to:
Andrea Almarza, 105 Gordon Baker Road, Suite 401, North York, Ontario, M2H 3P8
email AAlmarza@cfig.ca / fax 1-416-492-5818
Please identify that this is in response to the request for board nominations.
Nominations must include the following.
I would ask that you submit your nomination by July 31st, 2017. All requests received will be reviewed at our August 11th nominating committee meeting.
If you can not get all the information completed and in by the 31st of July please let Andrea know by that date that you do have an interest and you will provide the required information ASAP.
Being a board member of CFIG is a rewarding personal commitment. Board membership requires board members to travel an average of three times per year and participate on at least one committee. The cost of travel and other expenses related to carrying out your duties as a board member is covered by the association.
This is an exciting time for our association. If you are interested in playing an active role in helping to guide CFIG please take the time and notify us of your interest.
