Kootenay Market in Elkford celebrated its grand opening on May 22.
The new 26,500 sq.-ft.-store was a replacement store in Elkford and offers a full range and selection of grocery, dairy and frozen products along with a dedicated section of better-for-you products.
The fresh department includes a Produce, Meat & Deli departments along with a new fresh Bakery and Hot Foods Department.
The store also offers a full Hardware and soft goods department with the Elkford General Store as Wood incorporated a “store within a store” concept.
Soon the store will have an eat-in section with table and chairs for the convenience of it shoppers and visitors.
Store owner George Wood welcomed everyone during the ribbon cutting and thanked all the people that had helped putting together the store.
He singled out Lyle Epp, Jason Cook and Todd Haase from Associated Grocers for their tremendous help in getting the new store up and running and all the team at Associated Grocers.
He also thanked some of his other major vendors like Darin Jones from Jones Equipment, plus a few of his other suppliers that were in attendance such as Saputo and Ready Bake.
The community support for the new store has not gone unnoticed. The store had already been open for three weeks and they were meeting all their expectations. Wood also thanked all of his staff and management team for their first class service and support in getting the new store up and running and closing down the old operations.
Mayor Dean McKerracher in turn thanked Wood for his vision and investment in their community in building a newer, better and larger store in Elkford.
The Major congratulated George on giving the community a wonderful new store with wider isles, greater access and new departments to shop, giving the community a wonderful new shopping experience for the town of Elkford and for visitors to enjoy.
Wood and Mayor McKerracher then proceeded to cut the ribbon and invite everyone to come in enjoy the new store, take advantage of the great deals and enter the many draws that were available during the Grand Opening week.
