Corner Brook; NL, November 13, 2015 – Colemans, the Corner Brook-based grocery chain with 11 stores have once again teamed up with national and local food companies to disperse $25,000 to eighty-two (82) schools across the province. Colemans are committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle to the children of Newfoundland.
The first kid’s promotion took place in the spring of 2004 when Colemans teamed with Quaker and donated $5000 to a National/Provincial Program “Kids Eat Smart”. In 2010 Colemans developed their own programs called “Kids Eat Healthy” and “Kids Get Active” and continued to receive support from national and local sponsors like Kraft, Campbell’s, Kellogg’s, Lipton Unilever, ConAgra Foods, Smucker’s and Purity which have been integral to the success of these programs.
To date, Colemans have donated $279,600.00 to schools across the province. Some additional programs the grocer runs include:
“Kids Get Active” runs annually from Jan – July. Funds go towards the purchase of sports equipment.
“Kids Eat Healthy” runs annually from July – Dec. Funds go to towards the purchase of healthy breakfast foods.
Schools will use Coleman’s gift cards to purchase healthy breakfast items that are served by volunteers that help nourish thousands of children throughout the province. Colemans would also like to acknowledge their customers for purchasing the promotional products. Their support has been the key.
