January 12, 2015, Toronto, ON – – – Greater employee retention, lower absenteeism, greater innovation and profitability? It’s possible say the organizers and speakers of the Rethinking Disabilities Conference, February 11, 2015 at the Sheraton Toronto Hotel.
Retailers are reminded that as of January 1, 2015, private sector organizations with 50 or more employees have additional requirements (training, feedback) under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.
“Simply put, hiring people with a disability is good for business,” said Bob Vansickle, Chair, Ontario Disability Employment Network, organizers of the conference. “This event is an opportunity for employers to hear thought leaders like former Ontario Lieutenant Governor, David Onley, Rich Donovan of The Return on Disability Group, Randy Lewis, formerly of Walgreens and other experts share the business cases that support greater profitability for organizations that have hired people with a disability.”
Experts from TD Bank, Tim Hortons, Loblaw Companies Limited, GE Canada and Sodexo Canada will share leading recruitment and on-boarding strategies, as well as where to find the smartest professionals who have a disability.
Other experts from Deloitte Canada, Gowan Consulting, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and more, will outline simple best practices to managing workplace accommodations, dispel myths about hiring people with a disability and more.
