It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved daughter, sister, friend, mother and wife, Ingrid. She departed this world far too soon, leaving a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Ingrid passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the age of 58 leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will forever be treasured. Born on July 4th, 1965, Ingrid brought a unique light to this world from the very beginning. She was a remarkable woman who had a passion for life that was truly infectious. Her love for cooking, gardening, and knitting were not just hobbies; they were an expression of her boundless creativity, nurturing spirit, and deep love for her family. In the kitchen, Ingrid was an artist, weaving flavours and aromas into culinary masterpieces that brought joy to everyone lucky enough to savour her creations. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and laughter, where she not only whipped up delicious dishes but also shared precious moments with her loved ones. Ingrid grew up on a family farm in Amherst, Ohio. Her family operated a farm market that she managed before she married Will in 1990, who she met at a farm market conference in Dayton, Ohio. Ingrid and Will built Sunripe into 3 stores that have become cornerstones in their communities. Ingrid has created hundreds of recipes for Sunripe that customers can enjoy. She mentored many employees, not to mention more than 20 European exchange students. Ingrid’s no-nonsense management style and candid approach set many staff on successful career paths. Her garden was her sanctuary, a place where she cultivated beauty and nurtured life. The vibrant colours and fragrant blooms were a testament to her green thumb and the love she poured into every plant. She taught her children the importance of patience and nurturing, not just in the garden but in life. In her knitting, she crafted more than just clothing; she wove love and care into every stitch. Her hand-knit creations were not just garments; they were symbols of comfort and warmth, embodying her maternal spirit. But, perhaps, Ingrid’s most cherished role was that of a mother. She was a loving and devoted mom, who instilled in her children the values of kindness, compassion, and resilience. Her legacy will live on through the generations she leaves behind. Ingrid is survived by her three children, Kysa, Ryall and Mia and her husband Will who will forever carry the lessons of her love in their hearts. She is also remembered by her mother, Gunver and her step dad Floyd, and her siblings Holger, Kirsten and Hjordis, who hold dear the memories of a daughter and sister who was the epitome of strength and determination. Ingrid will be rejoining her father, Bill who left us suddenly in 1991 at the age of 61. The void left by Ingrid’s untimely departure will never be filled, but her spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of those she touched. Her love for the culinary arts, the beauty of nature, and the warmth of her knitting and sewing will forever be a part of the legacy she leaves behind. As we say our farewells, let us remember Ingrid as a remarkable woman who graced our lives with love, laughter, and hard work. Her memory will be forever cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family and friends will be received to celebrate Ingrid’s life at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 68 Union St, Forest, on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Christopher’s Parish, Forest, or the VON in her name.
