Gourmet grocer Pusateri’s has just launched a full breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch menu at its Yorkville and Bayview Village locations.
The Toronto Star reported that its flagship Avenue Rd. branch will offer some of the food as pre-packed items and daily specials in its hot and cold counters as well.
The move is a way to gain a share of the masses going to restaurants.
Pusateri’s executive chef, Tony Cammalleri and his head chef did their due diligence and ate their way through several of Toronto’s hot lunch spots to come up with a menu plan.
The result is what they call “sophisticated diner food” said the Toronto Star report.
The $9 breakfast burgers are an all-natural take on McDonald’s sausage egg McMuffin. Ingredients used include double-grinded pork butt mixed with bacon, brown sugar and hint of cayenne for the sausage recipe. Biscuits are made from scratch.
The weekday breakfast menu features healthy fare such as steel-cut oats or egg whites and greens. But there are banana and Nutella waffles and apple and white cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches for those looking for something more decadent.
