Independent grocer Merlen Kropf, founder L&M Food Markets in 1965, passed away on January 19, 2022. The family business, which included his wife Doreen as his partner, and his children Dale and Debra Ann, grew to a great level of success. Merlen was a respected entrepreneur, highly regarded in the grocery business, where he developed many friendships. He received the CFIG Life Member Award (1999). At the time of his passing, Merlen and Doreen were the proud franchisees of the Dundalk Foodland for over 20 years. Family members will continue to carry forward his business legacy. Merlen never officially retired, as business was always one of his great passions.
A private service for family and a public celebration of life will take place in future at Guelph Lakes Golf Club.
