It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Williamson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of our community. Mike passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet generosity.
Mike’s life was filled with joy and passion. He was the devoted husband of Cindy Williamson, a proud father to Matthew (wife Natalie) and Josh (partner Robin), and a loving grandfather to Jacob, Daniel, Ethan, and Evie. Mike was predeceased by his devoted parents, Mary Grace and Mansfield Williamson. He is survived by his siblings, Deborah, Bruce, and Steve Williamson, along with many nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest source of pride, and he never missed an opportunity to share in their lives.
Mike had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time in Aruba with Cindy, where the sun, sand, and shared laughter brought him true happiness. An avid golfer, Mike could often be found on the greens at Deer Ridge Golf Club, basking in the peace, joy, and camaraderie of the game he loved. As a devoted Kitchener Rangers and Boston Bruins fan, he rarely missed the chance to cheer for his favourite teams.
As the owner of Central Fresh Market, Mike’s care extended beyond his store’s walls. He treated his employees like family and valued every customer who walked through his doors. Mike believed in the power of community, and he led by example-always with a warm smile, a generous heart, and a readiness to help those in need.
Though cancer took him from us too soon, Mike’s legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the kindness we extend to one another, and the community he helped build.
Mike’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 and Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519) 749-8467. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Those unable to attend may view Mike’s service via the following live stream link: www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming.
The Williamson family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. We extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. McCarron for her exceptional care and compassion throughout Mike’s courageous fight. Our deepest gratitude also goes to the staff in the ICU-A at Grand River Hospital, especially Dr. Plaxton, for their unwavering support during our darkest moments.
For those who wish to honour Mike’s memory, donations to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated, allowing his spirit of generosity and commitment to the community he loved to live on (cards available at the funeral home).
