TORONTO-Korean grocer Galleria celebrated its 8th annual Share the Love event on Thursday, Jan. 15. The event takes a portion of the profits from the tills at the grocer and donates money to various charities in the community.
A total of $15,700 was donated to 14 different charities. Galleria CEO Jeffrey Min said that along with 59 of its vendors and community partners, every year the grocer donates a part of their profit to local organizations. “Sharing is a duty and a way to grow together as a community.”
The charities that received a donation from Galleria were: Vaughan Food Bank,The York Centre for Children, Youth & Family,C.S. &C.S.A. (Care first Seniors and Community Service Association),Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM),KCCM (Korean Community Centre for Multiculturalism),Korean Canadian Alliance,Thornhill District Lions Club,Dosan Ahn Chang Ho Memorial Hall (Santa Fund),R.I.S.S. (Rainbow Info & Social Services),Just The Little Lights Relief Org.,Joy Women & Children’s Mission Soc.,Korean Canadian Children’s Association,Mon sheong Foundation,The Centre for DREAM Inc.
Ward Hanlon, VP of industry relations & business at the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers said that Galleria’s event reflects how independents across Canada provide support to their communities throughout the year.
