One National essay winner receives $6,000.

Six regional essay awards of $2000.00 each are awarded as follows: (4)university/college (East & West)– (1) high school in the East– (1) high school in the West–
NEW: Two regional video submission awards of $5000 are awarded as follows: (1)East, (1)West

To be eligible for the awards:

  1.  Applicants must be Canadian residents studying in Canada.
  2.  Applicants must be enrolled or expected to enrol in a post-secondary program of at least 2 years.
  3.  All Graduating High School Students
  4.  College/University students must be enrolled in at least one more year of study as of the current year.
  5.  Applicants must be working for a current CFIG member (retail, associate, affiliate) or be a family member of an employee of a current CFIG member.
  6.  Only complete applications containing full and accurate information will be considered.
  7.  Plagiarism is an infringement of copyright laws. All essays must be properly referenced.

Six regional essay awards of $2000 each are awarded as follows:

Essay Method – $18,000 in total winnings

Applications MUST include:

  1. A 1,000 word essay, with proper referencing on the following question: (essays longer will not be judged)
    Everyone can agree that 2020 has been a rollercoaster of a year.  When the COVID-19 pandemic started in Canada this past February, Grocery stores were deemed an essential service to provide food and supplies to Canadian’s across the country. How has COVID-19 affected the Future of Grocery relating to sustainability, e-commerce and the everyday customer experience? Please provide at least 3 ideas/examples on how a grocery retailer can exploit to their advantage these key areas post COVID-19.
  2. A list of academic achievements, awards, and extra-curricular activities.
  3. An official grade transcript of your last completed year. Must MAIL to:

  4. A complete application form with all pertinent information properly filled.

Video Method – $10,000 in total winnings

Applications MUST include:

  1. A creative video, no longer than 10 minute playback time on the following question:
