Mobile payment system Apple Pay is now available in Canada. And Canada is only the third country to introduce it.
The system is only available to American Express cardholders, who starting today can scan their card or enter account details in the the digital wallet on their iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.
American Express cards are currently used in 2% of Canadian payment transactions, and it is only available to the newest iPhone models 6, 6S.
How to use it
Customers simply hold their devices up to contactless payment terminals.
Encrypted data is then sent to the retailers and the transaction is recorded in the user’s app, says a Toronto Star report.
The payment system will also be available for online purchases made through apps on iPads, iPhones for vendors such as Domino’s, Starbucks and Groupon.
