Congratulations to the 2019 LIFE MEMBER & SPIRIT OF THE INDEPENDENT recipients. Established in 1989, the Life Member Designation honours the lifetime achievements of individuals who have made significant contributions to CFIG, to independent grocers, and to the food industry. This is the highest honour CFIG can bestow.

Michel Manseau, Sr. VP and GM Consumer Business at Kruger Products LP, as the 2019 recipient of CFIG’s prestigious Life Member Award in the Industry Builder category.
Tom Barlow, Formerly President & CEO of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, as the 2019 recipient of CFIG’s prestigious Spirit of the Independent Award.
The Spirit of the Independent Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth of the entrepreneurial spirit of Canadian Grocers and have provided inspiration to Canada’s independent grocers. This award is not an annual award and it is reserved for individuals who personify what the award stands for.
All recipients will be officially recognized at the Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year awards gala on Wednesday, October 23, at Grocery Innovations Canada 2019 (GIC).
