Galleria Supermarket hosts a Donation Event ‘Basket with Love’ to gather both corporate and individual sponsors’ hands together to help those in desperate situations due to COVID-19.
The ‘basket with love’ held on May 7th, as a local donation event, is gathering supports from various companies and organizations. Since many beneficiaries have been thankful for this event, and as personal sponsors willing to donate continuously, Galleria will not stop this as a one-day event but will continue throughout May, ‘the national family month’.
The ‘Basket with Love’ will keep continuing to raise money from individual sponsors at the cashier and customer center of each branch of the Galleria Supermarket. For every $50 raised, a donation package will be delivered to those who requested through charity organizations.
At the donation event on May 7th, donation packages were provided to the elderly, disabled, single parents, and other beneficiaries suffering from the COVID-19 epidemic. Approximately $50 worth of necessities have been given to about 500 neighbors in need, also additional 900 donation packages will be delivered through charity organizations. About 40 volunteers participated and 3 police officers voluntarily came for traffic control.
To prevent spreading COVID-19, hand sanitizers have been placed on all locations throughout the event, maintaining the social distance of attendees, providing face guards, face masks, gloves, and ensuring that all donation processes are done with no contact.
In this regard, CEO Jeffrey Min said, “there were concerns about spreading COVID-19 in organizing the event, but those who have difficulty at this moment struggling with daily necessities, and I thought giving hands to those people is also part of overcoming COVID-19.”, “I would like to thank everyone who participated in the event from early in the morning even if it was such a difficult time for moving around.” The ‘Basket with Love’ donation event has been sponsored by Yuan Farm, Royal LePage, Pyunghwa Food, and Butterfly Fashion Trading, The Korea times Daily, Real Estate Canada, CBM Press Toronto, and Arirang Korea TV.
