Another creation from the event.
B.C.’s Country Grocer turned cans into movie magic to support Mustard Seed, a non-profit fighting hunger in Victoria.
The grocer was not only among the Canstruction teams competing in the annual event in partnership with the Dahlia Society, they were a key sponsor.
“This was a unique idea to raise awareness about the food bank and also it’s a fun way for our team to work together on this project,” said Tammy Averill, marketing manager at Country Grocer.
The theme this year was Movie Magic, and teams had to build things out of donated food, all of which gets donated to Mustard Seed.
Structures were on display for public viewing at the Mayfair Shopping Centre, with shoppers voting for their favourite Canstruction creation with a donation to The Mustard Seed of two dollars
or a non-perishable food item.
Country Grocer also transported donations to the Mustard Seed, filling a semi truck with 16 monos and 9 Mustard Seed Food bins.
